ARCHIVE UNDER CONSTRUCTION This site is currently being developed and tested with an initial collection of approximately 100 items. The completed archive will eventually contain thousands of records. The Church of the Beloved Disciple Archive is an open-access scholarly digital archive documenting the first LGBTQ-affirming sacramental church in New York City. Bringing together photographs, newspapers, liturgical texts, correspondence, audio recordings, and ephemera with researched descriptions and metadata, the archive preserves and critically contextualizes the religious, communal, and cultural life of this pioneering independent Catholic congregation and its distinctive forms of queer spiritual creativity, ca. 1968–1986.
